Dear friends and blog readers, Today is the day we’ve been waiting for (or one of them). We have court in a little less than 3 hours. We are VERY excited. Today, Oleg and Misha become Matthew and Micah. We can’t take them home yet, because of the 10 day waiting period (UNLESS God allows that to be waived). But they will be ours! Redeemed! Ransomed! Rescued! Wow. We watched the Louie Giglio talk called “Indescribable” again this morning. It is so amazing that people so insignificant in the scheme of the universe are so significant to God. And these children who the world has forgotten about has had the eyes of the Father on them. And from the day we were born, God has had us on a path to bring these boys into our family. That’s amazing. One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was another thing that really surprised me while being here. I didn’t expect to hate the people who run the orphanages, but I also didn’t expect to really like them and even feel sympathy. These people do the very best they can with what they have to work with. I’m not saying the I could do better at all. I could NOT do what they do. Where Micah is, we talked to his caretaker (that sounds like it’s a zoo, but that’s what they’re called) and she said there are 20 boys in the building. She works a 12 hour shift. BY HERSELF. She feeds 20 kids 3 meals and snacks every day. She cleans, dresses, watches over these boys. BY HERSELF. 12 hours a day. I could not do that. When I mentioned the behavioral drugs yesterday, I meant to include this but got interrupted and didn’t get the rest of my thoughts out. I also wanted to say that my sharing that in no way was a slam against them. Any slam would be against the “system.” The people who have cared for our kids are very caring and are doing the very best they can. So that being said, let me tell you the schedule after today as we THINK it is. March 6 – Court
March 6 – 16 10 Day waiting period (to allow the family to contest the adoption)
March 17 – We get the final papers and they are officially ours to take
2-3 days – get new birth certificates (in Zhytomyr)
2-3 days – get visas
HOME!!!! The 2-3 day times could actually 1 – 7 but those are the normal ranges. Thanks for praying! We’ll try to post tonight. We’ll leave for Kiev by car after court (about a 3-4 hour drive). Here’s the pics from this morning’s visit. We won’t see him for several days. We’ll be in Kiev for 6-7 days. We love you all and will post as soon after court as possible.
