Back at Heathrow Airport at 5:30 a.m. to get checked back in and find our gate. It turned out that we needed that extra time! They had to MANUALLY rekey all of our bag check codes to be sure our luggage made it with us to Kiev. Yikes! They were very nice about it though and really were impressed with the kids behavior. I was proud of them…especially since they were so tired and very hungry.
I thought it was a bit humorous that we were sent to Group Check In — we’re a group for sure, but still strange.
Bethany and Hannah snooze on the way to Kiev. It was a brief 2:51 flight. (Brief compared to the previous night’s 9 hour flight.)
Papa was a bit sleepy. I managed to sleep about 30 minutes. Between Micah’s “tapping” and Matthews feet…it was hard to sleep.
Robin (Mary’s sister) was bright eyed for the flight from London to Kiev.
Seth just waiting. Ethan played with his hands…as usual.
Halfway there!
Finally landed. Since we were at the back of the plane (and because of all the extra stuff we had to get off) we waited until everyone got off before we even tried. I look jovial in this pic, but actually I was worried about how we would get all our stuff and all our people onto the very crowded airport bus for our short ride from the runway to the terminal. Imagine how delighted I was when the flight attendent told me that we should wait a few more minutes because they had ordered another bus for us because the other one was too crowded. WOW! Go God!!!! We had a bus all to ourselves (plus one other couple with a small child). Why was I worried!?
So it’s time to get off the plane and of course Ethan is passed out!
Seth is ready to get off the plane. Finally we are home!
Here I am waiting with part of our luggage while friends were rolling other carriages out to the van and trailer.
Loading up at the airport to start the ride to Brovary. A short 20 minute drive.
Bethany, Seth and I rode to Brovary with Sasha (a great friend who met us at the airport to help with luggage and transport).
The van loaded up with Malones (and one Laws).
Just like in the States, you have to pay to get out of the airport. They get you going and coming!
Home sweet home…and the unloading begins.
We had a fire brigade going to get the luggage into the house.
Sveta helping with the luggage.
Here it is. Our luggage (minus two bags that didn’t make it). The two bags are at the airport as I type. We will get them in the morning…we hope!
Another angle that shows the rest of the bags.
Well…I’m not a fan of this format, but what’s done is done. 🙂
