We had a good night’s sleep last night. We had planned with the Loux’s to get together and play cards…but we were all way to exhausted. So we all went home to our apartments. We are a real FUN bunch!! 🙂 So this morning, we were able to get up and just take it easy before we went to visit Matthew. I soaked in a hot bath to try to get some back relief. (I slipped on the ice two days and jammed something…who knows). Then we ate a relaxed breakfast, Mary washed some of her clothes in the tub. Yes…that’s right. She said she’s very thankful for our washing machine!! 🙂 We went to see Matthew today, of course 🙂 and we had a great time with him. He reached for me out of the bed and gave us both nice long hugs. He was so calm today and just sat with us, hugged us and let us kiss all over him. We played worship music over him and sang over him. He just relaxed in our arms. It was more than just hey these people are here to play with me again. He really seems to know that we care about him and love him. Oh…a side note. I’m sure you may not know this, but anytime we are online, we are at a pizzera called Palermo. It’s a cheap, hot meal, nice surroundings, clean bathrooms, WIFI internet and warm. So anyway, at night, there are disco lights and people dance (very scary 🙂 ). Why am I telling you this? Oh yeah…on the big plasma screens is “How the West was Fun” featuring the much younger Olson twins. Ummm…let me out!!!!! Back to my story…
Matthew watched the video of himself and really was intrigued. It was fun watching him watch it. He let us read him a book, kind of. He prefers to just throw all the toys we bring (except the wand and rarely Preston, the singing donkey). We are so blessed to be here and loving these boys. There have been difficulties, but we are so blessed. We are trusting God and believing His Word. Here’s some scriptures that God gave me this morning:
Psalm 13:5-6 I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms—
I’m celebrating your rescue.
I’m singing at the top of my lungs,
I’m so full of answered prayers. Psalm 16
1-2 Keep me safe, O God, I’ve run for dear life to you.
I say to God, “Be my Lord!”
Without you, nothing makes sense. 3 And these God-chosen lives all around—
what splendid friends they make! 4 Don’t just go shopping for a god.
Gods are not for sale.
I swear I’ll never treat god-names
like brand-names. 5-6 My choice is you, God, first and only.
And now I find I’m your choice!
You set me up with a house and yard.
And then you made me your heir! 7-8 The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake
is confirmed by my sleeping heart.
Day and night I’ll stick with God;
I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go. 9-10 I’m happy from the inside out,
and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed.
You canceled my ticket to hell—
that’s not my destination! 11 Now you’ve got my feet on the life path,
all radiant from the shining of your face.
Ever since you took my hand,
I’m on the right way. He is blessing us with His presence and with His greatness. “I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers.” I love that. He’s so faithful to speak. Praise God. Here’s a video of our boy, Matthew: And a few more pictures of Matthew from today. We won’t see Micah again until Monday. 🙁
Mary is such a good mommy. She is so patient. I have to admit, sitting in that little room, after a few minutes, I’m like…okay…what’s next. She can just play with the same one toy with him over and over and over. I love being with him, don’t get me wrong…but I’m not really as patient. 🙂 I want to take him out and explore the city and introduce him to all the new things! He’s probably never been out of the orphanage. I want to give him his first ice cream. Take him to the park for the first time. Watch his eyes when pets a dog. We are SO BLESSED. Man, God is good!
Be Blessed. Postscript from Mary…
I miss my kids! But enjoying time with Matthew and Micah too. Love you all. Kids: We miss you and love you very much!!!
