I needed this reminder today. Maybe you do too. It sounds crazy, but we are really grieving the “loss” of our house today. We are happy to follow God and glad He has made the transition possible without having a house. But with the finality of closing coming and looking at the house we will live in for a few months until the move bring the reality of what’s happening.  We are truly walking away from everything.  Every thing.

We’re okay with it, really.  This song reminds us… “We know the pain reminds this heart, That this is not, this is not our home.  It’s not our home.”  And… “Or the aching(s) of this life is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy. And what if trials of this life the rain, the storms, the hardest nights are Your mercies in disguise.”

It’s rather ironic that the HIGH HIGHS we’ve had over the last few days can feel so flat when we think about the overwhelming days ahead.  We are so grateful that God’s hand is so evident.  We’re fearful, but we aren’t backing down.  We aren’t running for hiding.  We’re pressing forward…straining forward some moments.  We’re following hard after Him.  It’s just a process.  We are aware of His great blessings and provision and look forward to seeing His hand tomorrow too.  And the day after that.  And the day after that.

God used this as “balm” in my weariness today…  Let Him wash over you as you listen…

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It’s not our home

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching(s) of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise
